Calendar reminders

“It's about to start.” Connect Google Calendar and Mimon tells you the event name in a speech bubble.

Connecting is optional. Growth and weather work without it. Mimon never creates, changes or deletes events.

The extension's screens are currently in Japanese. Button names below are given in English with the Japanese label that you will see in parentheses. The extension is currently distributed in Japan only.

Which events it announces

  • It covers the primary calendar of the Google account you connected. There is no way to choose shared calendars or others.
  • It announces events that have a start time. All-day events are not covered.
  • The guide for timing is the 「分前」 (minutes before) value shown in the Google Calendar section of the settings. The bubble does not read the time out precisely; it conveys a short phrase and the event name.

Notifications can be delayed depending on event syncing and Chrome's state. For events that need an alarm at an exact time, also use the calendar's own notifications.

How to connect

  1. Click Mimon to open the settings. While it is an egg, open it from Chrome's extension icon.
  2. In the 「Google Calendar」 section press 「接続」 (connect) and choose the Google account to use.
  3. Allow the permission to read calendar events.
  4. When it shows 「接続済み」 (connected) or 「同期済み」 (synced), you are done. To fetch events again, press 「同期」 (sync).

Open 「カレンダー連携について」 (about calendar connection) in the settings to read the explanation on the spot. 「解除」 (disconnect) stops the connection and removes fetched events, notification text and any event bubble being shown. So that past event names are not left behind, it also erases the whole general watching history, while growth state, the growth album and weather settings remain.

Where the bubble appears

It tells you in a tab with a web page that can show Mimon. It is not an OS notification. No bubble appears while it is an egg, while Chrome is closed, or on pages where it cannot be shown.

When nothing seems to change after syncing

「同期」 (sync) re-fetches events. It is not a button that shows a test notification right away. If there is no matching event or notification time, no bubble may appear even when you press it.

Check that the primary calendar of the connected account has an event with a start time. For a connection error, check your network and start over from 「接続」 (connect) or 「再接続」 (reconnect). After Chrome or the extension restarts, events must be fetched again while online.

If it is minimized, restore it with “+” and check on a web page where Mimon is. If it still doesn't work, do not remove or reinstall — that would lose your growth data — and instead tell us through Support.

About event information

Google sign-in is authorization for reading events. Currently, even with the same Google account, growth state and the album are not synced with another device. See how saving works

From v0.7.50, the event name, start and end times, event ID and the latest notification text are kept only in memory while Chrome is running. After Chrome or the extension restarts, events are fetched again, so reminders can't be used while there is no connection.

The connection settings, and the one-way hashes and notification times used to avoid duplicate notifications, are stored on the device. The dedicated fields for attendees, location, meeting links and description are excluded from the request to the API. Fetched events are never sent to the Mimon developer's servers.

「解除」 (disconnect) inside Mimon and revoking access on the Google account side are separate. How to revoke the permission as well is described in the Privacy Policy.
