Changelog

A summary of the main changes added to Mimon. It is on the Chrome Web Store. The list below also includes updates of pre-release versions.

A Mimon you can move, and pre-release adjustments

Latest

You can now grab Mimon and move it, or let go and have it land at the bottom of the screen. Press “−” to minimize and only a “+” stays where it was; press it to bring Mimon back to its original position. In the pre-release v0.7.50 we reviewed the app so that the contents of events are kept only in memory, and we updated the usage and data explanations.

The growth album, and weather notifications

You can now look back at the baby, child and adult looks in an album organized by generation. Weather can be set up with your current location or by choosing a region by hand, and it also shows which region's forecast is being fetched. The display scale for new starts is now 3x. We also added an occasional glance in one direction, and new looks.

A little polish to its looks

We reviewed the body, expression and feet from egg to adult. There are more slightly odd faces and small feet. Walking and blinking have also become a little calmer.

More adult looks

We added more bodies, faces and feet for an adult Mimon. Hand- and wing-like shapes are grouped into the body, and mouth- and cheek-like expressions into the face, shaped so that combinations stay compact.

A tidier status display

When you click Mimon, the display is now narrowed to name, display scale, calendar reminders, generation, attribute and next egg. It is closer to a small pet that shows only what's needed.

Its name is now “Mimon”

The browser pet now has its official name: “Mimon” (ミモン in Japanese). Displays and messages are being switched to the new name one by one.

Simpler movement

We dropped the lying-down display and narrowed its movement to three: staying still, walking and sitting. It feels more like a quiet presence, as Mimon should.

A mechanism for tuning the wording of calendar reminders

We made it possible for the operator to adjust the wording of the reminder shown before an event. This is not a speech-editing feature added to the user-facing settings screen.

It speaks according to the situation

Mimon now says a short word in many situations: when you've been focused, when you haven't touched anything for a while, depending on the time of day or the day of the week, and so on.

Calendar reminders added

We added “calendar reminders”: connect Google Calendar, optionally, and Mimon tells you in a speech bubble before events. It does not use OS or browser notifications; Mimon itself tells you.

Growth system tidied up

We organized it into the current simple form of growing through four stages: egg, baby, child and adult.

The first step as a 16x16 pixel pet

We began the basic display and growth of a small pixel pet that lives in the corner of the browser.
