Put Mimon in the corner of your browser.
Mimon is an extension for desktop Google Chrome. A tiny Mimon grows with your everyday browsing.
Add to ChromeMimon is on the Chrome Web Store. It is currently distributed in Japan only. Open the store page in desktop Google Chrome.
Availability is decided by the distribution region, not by the language of the page. Opening the store page in English does not make Mimon available outside Japan. Mimon's own screens and speech are currently in Japanese, and the weather feature covers Japan only. This English site is a guide to Mimon; it does not mean the extension has been translated.
Start in the Chrome you use every day.
Currently, growth state and the album are stored inside the Chrome profile of the device where Mimon is installed. They are not carried over to another device or another profile, and are not synced even with the same Google account.
If several people, such as a family, use the same Chrome profile, Mimon and the album are shared. To keep them separate per person, start Mimon in each person's own profile.
If you remove the extension, growth state and the album are deleted too. There is currently no transfer, backup or restore feature. Where data is stored and what to know before deleting
Getting started
- Open Mimon on the Chrome Web Store, press 「Chromeに追加」 (Add to Chrome) and confirm in the dialog. On an English-language Chrome the button reads “Add to Chrome”.
- Open an ordinary web page. When an egg appears at the bottom right, you are ready.
- After that, just use your browser as usual. It grows little by little with your operations and focused time.
Some pages cannot show Mimon, such as Chrome's settings pages and the Chrome Web Store. It is not a smartphone app.
Connections can come later.
- Weather notifications: a word of the Japan Meteorological Agency forecast in the morning, noon and night, for places in Japan. Works with your current location or with a region you choose without location. No Google sign-in is needed.
- Calendar reminders: connect Google Calendar and Mimon lets you know before your events.
Both are optional. If you only want to raise it, no connection setup is needed.
To start weather, open Mimon from the extension icon and choose 「現在地で天気を使う」 (use weather at my current location) or 「地域を選ぶ」 (choose a region). See the two ways to set it up
Usage and updates
For changing the name or display scale, moving and minimizing, and the next egg and album, see the usage guide. The actual settings and album are opened from Chrome's extension icon, not from this site. For where data is stored and what is communicated, see the Privacy Policy.
Extensions installed from the Chrome Web Store are normally updated automatically by Chrome. The timing depends on your environment.
